Earning an extra income in retirement

There are numerous ways to supplement your income in retirement without needing to go back to work. Here are a few ways to boost your income in retirement.

Choosing Freedom

You may be retired, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have the knowledge, expertise, and networks that you built up over the past 50 years. New startup companies are always looking for advice from experienced people and there may be plenty of “consultancy” organizations out there, but their fees are often very high and unaffordable. Why not use your experience to help out budding entrepreneurs for less? If you’ve got the know-how, you can bet that someone would want to hear it.

If you’ve got a skill, put it to use within your community. Maybe you could teach someone how to cook, sew, or fix broken electrical devices? These things aren’t time-consuming and are guaranteed to generate an income on the side.

Finally, how about selling some of your old possessions on websites such as eBay? A lot of us have boxes packed full of items sitting in our attics. Why not have a look and see what’s there? Old LPs or clothing that would be considered vintage these days is extremely popular and sells for quite a lot. You’d be surprised what you can find.

Of course, there are plenty of other ways to earn extra income in retirement, and these are just a few ideas for inspiration!
